Let’s say you’re curious about the people at a potential employer, or at a competitor, and you want to know more about them. Well, one of the first places you would head would be to LinkedIn, wouldn’t it? Ah, but what if you don’t want people to know you’re checking them out?
Here’s what you do:
- Go to LinkedIn Settings here.
- Find “Privacy Controls” and click on “Select What Others See When You’ve Viewed Their Profile.”
- Select the “You Will Be Totally Anonymous” button.
- Click the “Save Changes” button.
Research away to your heart’s content – or at least to the extent LinkedIn will allow based on your free or paid membership status.
When you’re done, click back into LinkedIn Settings and select your normal privacy level.
BTW, I hope this post
about stalking doesn’t shock you – because it happens. Five of the last ten people who viewed my profile were ex boyfriends did so anonymously, four showed their names, and one showed their employer and job function.
